Central High School was built in 1961 as the first school to educate Black students from first through twelfth grades in the Enterprise School District. It was part of the state's school equalization program to maintain segregation. Originally called Clarke County High School, its name was changed to Central High School in 1962. The last graduating class was in 1969 since the school closed in 1970 due to integration. Nine classes graduated unter the leadership of its principal, Waldon D. Falconer of Shubuta.
